Introducing the New Community Apps Portal
A better way to discover, deploy, and submit apps for Unraid
Community Applications is one of Unraid's most-used features: a curated catalog of Docker containers and plugins you can install in a few clicks straight from your server's WebGUI. The catalog itself has always been strong. Finding new apps, keeping track of what's been added, and submitting your own were harder than they should have been.
The new Community Apps portal at ca.unraid.net is a redesigned site for browsing the catalog, saving apps, and publishing your own.
What's New
Spotlight Apps with Install Videos
The Spotlight section features a monthly selected app with an embedded install video so you can watch a guided setup before committing to it. Recent picks include Open WebUI for running local AI, Custom SMB Shares, and a-eye for self-hosted photo organization.
Recently Added Feed
The Recently Added section lists the newest Docker apps and plugins as the community submits them, updated in real time. It's the quickest way to see what people are building for Unraid, whether that's an LLM monitoring dashboard, a self-hosted finance tool, or a new Home Automation container.
Most Popular Plugins
Not sure where to start? The Most Popular Plugins section ranks plugins by install count. Tailscale, Unassigned Devices, and GPU Statistics consistently sit near the top — a good starting point if you're not sure what to install first, since these already run on thousands of servers.
Dark Mode & Light Mode
The portal supports both dark and light mode. It follows your system setting by default, and you can switch manually whenever you want.
Sign In, Save & Bookmark Apps
Sign in with your Unraid account to save and bookmark apps. If you find something you're not ready to install, or you're putting together a list for a new build, you can keep it in one place. Saved apps sync across devices, so you can browse on a laptop and install from the server later.
A New Way to Submit Apps
If you're a developer or maintainer, the new submission process makes publishing your app to the Community Apps catalog smoother and more streamlined than ever.
It works in three steps:
- Package the basics. Add the metadata, license, and support links a listing needs.
- Preview the result. A live scan reads your repository before you submit. It parses your template XML, validates your ca_profile.xml, checks for duplicate listings, and shows you a preview of how the listing will look, along with anything that needs fixing.
- Join the catalog. Submit and publish into the feed users browse from their servers.
We've also written submission documentation covering the repository XML format, a full field reference, and a builder guide.
Need to get in touch about your submission? There's also a new Community Apps board for direct access to the Unraid dev team.
3,700+ Apps and Growing
The Community Apps catalog now hosts over 3,700 Docker containers and plugins, all built and/or maintained by the community. Media servers, home automation, game servers, network tools, and anything else you'd want to run are already there. This new portal is meant to make that entire Unraid apps catalog easier to explore and contribute to. More is coming for search, categories, and developer tooling over the coming months.
