Policies
Just like you, we like to shop on the Internet without worrying about our private information being used for purposes we didn't intend.
We only collect the minimum information needed to do business with you, provide better security, and collect feedback to improve our products and services. Here is when we collect information:
- When you use our website.
- When you register a USB flash device.
- When you purchase products or services from us.
- When using the feedback system built into our products.
- When you use online update services.
- When you provide your email address to us.
Website
- We make use of GA4 to track non-personally identifying information to better understand how our customers interact with our website across different devices and platforms, such as desktop, mobile, and tablet.
- Our shopping cart requires cookies to store cart contents or appointment details when purchasing products or services.
- Any information you post in our forum or the wiki is public and may be recorded, archived, and republished by anyone. The Unraid Community forum has additional terms of use and community guidelines.
Flash Device Registrations
- For all registrations, we log the GUID of the USB flash device used for the OS installation and your email address.
- Trial registrations require your server to have internet access. Following server boot, Unraid OS Trials will contact a Lime Technology server to validate the trial. The information transferred consists of your USB flash boot device GUID, the version of Unraid OS currently running, and email (optional).
Purchases
- Information such as your name, email address, billing address, and payment details will be requested when purchasing products or services.
- For payment processing, we use Stripe and Paypal. We have limited access to the credit card information you supply when charging your purchase and rely on Stripe and Paypal to protect that information. Credit card information is never stored directly by Lime Technology.
- When purchasing a license, the process is initiated by clicking a "Buy" button in the Unraid OS webGUI or our website. This button causes a redirect of a page on our website to open in a new tab/window in your browser. All interaction with a shopping cart and the checkout process occurs using "https" between your browser and the shopping cart. The Unraid server is not involved in transmitting your payment information in any way.
- All purchases are final. No refunds. We recommend you try our product for free before purchasing to ensure it meets your personal needs and use case.
Feedback system
- By using the Feedback button in the Unraid webGui, users can request new features, report bugs, and provide comments directly to Lime Technology.
- When using any of these methods, we log the USB flash boot device GUID and the email address you optionally provide.
- Diagnostics data is automatically included when submitting a bug report. You can optionally choose to anonymize this data when submitting it to us.
Online Update / Update OS Tool
- Use of the Check for Updates button on the Unraid OS webGui Plugins page requires internet access in order to determine if updates are available.
- When the redesigned Update OS tool redirects the user to https://account.unraid.net/server/update-os, a client side application, we provide certain server details to the Unraid.net Account app via a callback parameter. This means that server details on the Account app have not been sent to any external cloud-based server. The data is referenced via the callback initialization from your server but stays within your local browser. Only a subset of the data is transferred to any external server with additional user based actions, detailed below.
Similar callback events are also used for other actions, such as starting a trial, extending a trial, recovering a lost license key, or any other license key-related action. The same mechanism is also used for Unraid Connect plugin user actions like signing in to their server with Unraid Connect and other similar actions. - These are all of the events where server data is sent/stored on Lime Technology's servers:
Start / Extend Trial
- The server’s flash GUID, OS version and Auth token
Recover License Key
- The server’s flash GUID and Auth token
Replace License Key
- The server’s flash GUID, encoded license keyfile and Auth token
Update OS checking for updates uses the following
- The server’s encoded license keyfile, OS version and branch, registration expiration date (if applicable) and Auth token
Unraid Connect – Sign In/Out
- The server’s server description, USB GUID, encoded license keyfile, server name and connect plugin version is sent.
Troubleshoot Request Form
- The biggest exception to all of the above is the Troubleshooting Request Form. When a user submits this form, the following data is passed by the Unraid server and included with the support ticket created so that our support staff can more quickly and accurately diagnose server issues: apiVersion, caseModel, connectPluginVersion, description, expireTime, flashProduct, flashVendor, guid, inIframe, keyfile, lanIp, name, osVersion, osVersionBranch, registered, regGuid, regExp, regTy, regUpdatesExpired, site, state, wanFQDN
Note: The “auth token” above refers to a token issued by AWS Cognito (our single-sign-on provider). Any event that contains this token implies that sign-in is necessary.
For most of these events, the user must confirm the action before the data is sent. The only exception is the Update OS page, which sends the data when the user lands on the page.
- We do not sell, give or share our customers' names and contact info with any other vendor or bulk mailing service.
- We do not send unsolicited emails to anyone or authorize anyone else to do so on our behalf. Exception: we may send email notifications of critical security updates.
Charges
All credit card orders will be charged at the time of order. The customer is responsible for any customs, duties, or VAT.
Sales Tax
California residents: applicable sales tax will be added to all orders except downloaded Registration Keys, which are currently exempt from California sales tax.
License Key Replacements
Lime Technology offers the original purchaser (and only the original purchaser) of an Unraid OS license the right to replace their Unraid OS license and to transfer their license onto a new USB flash device at any time after the initial purchase. A replacement key may be replaced for another replacement key after 12 months.
Please open a support ticket if another replacement key is required within those 12 months.
Once a license is transferred to a new USB flash GUID, the previous USB flash GUID becomes permanently blacklisted from use and cannot be used with Unraid going forward. Once a USB flash GUID is blacklisted, the action cannot be reversed.
No License Transfers
Lime Technology does not support the transfer of Unraid OS licenses to a 3rd party for any reason whatsoever. If you are an OEM partner or buying for a third party, please select the OEM toggle at checkout.
Services Terms
English-speaking only: At this time, Unraid support experts only communicate in the English language.
Cancellation or rescheduling: If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, you can do so online up to 24 hours before the appointment. If less than 24 hours before the appointment, you can email [email protected] with your information and whether you need to reschedule or cancel.
No-show penalty: If you do not respond to our attempts to contact you at the time of the appointment and do not cancel or reschedule the appointment, you will be charged in full.
Remote assistance requirements: To provide the most efficient use of time, Unraid service experts will need to be able to:
- Communicate with you using voice, text, and/or video.
- Get remote control of a computer that has access to your server.
- Maintain a quality connection with you for the duration of the support session.
Unraid support experts will provide instructions before your scheduled session on what remote assistance method will be utilized and what is required.
Unraid support experts may also need to download and/or install additional software on your remote assistance computer. The expert will inform you if this is required, explain its purpose, and get your verbal consent before doing so. However, if consent is not provided, the session may not be able to proceed.
If a remote control session cannot be sustained due to bad network conditions or other factors, the session may need to be rescheduled or canceled.
Remote BIOS configuration assistance: If you need assistance with motherboard BIOS configuration, you will need to have a monitor and keyboard attached to your server before the start of the session. You will also need to provide the exact motherboard model number so the manual can be looked up online for guidance on what settings to configure. If your motherboard features support for IPMI, this will help with remote assistance for BIOS configuration.
Performance-related troubleshooting: If a performance-centric issue is a part of your session, new hardware may be recommended to solve the issue. Not all performance issues can be resolved with software configuration alone.
Loss of data: You certify that you will indemnify and hold harmless the expert and Lime Technology, Inc. for any and all data or software that may be lost or erased, as well as for any consequence of the erasure or loss of that data or software. Although we will take every precaution to preserve all data and software on the computer, you acknowledge that occasionally erasure or loss of data or software will occur, and the operating system may be compromised and rendered unusable.
Session length / multiple sessions: The session will be ended after the user is completely satisfied or after the time scheduled has ended, whichever comes first. At the beginning of your session, the expert will review your needs. If necessary, you can purchase additional service sessions if necessary.
