Unraid OS 7.1.0-beta.2 Now Available
The second public beta of Unraid OS 7.1.0 is ready for testing and includes Wireless Networking support, Foreign ZFS Pool Imports, VM Enhancements, and more!

🚧 Public Beta Release – Test Rigs Only!
Unraid OS 7.1.0-beta.2 builds on the major features released in 7.1.0-beta.1 by adding key fixes and improvements to VM management, network behavior, wireless support, and more.
As always, this is beta software—please do not run it on production systems. We welcome your testing and feedback!
Wireless Networking 🛜
Changes in Beta 2
- Fix: Encrypted WiFi password removed from diagnostics [-beta.2]
- Fix: Prevent SSIDs from being listed twice, and suppress SSID named \x00\x00\x00\x00\x00 [-beta.2]
- The Regulatory Region can generally be left to Automatic, but set it to your location if the network you want to connect to is not available [-beta.2]
One of the most exciting additions in this release is WiFi support! While a wired connection is still recommended for stability and performance, Unraid now gives you the flexibility to connect via wireless when necessary. Perfect for Unraiders away to college, city flat dwellers, or for those who have their servers located in hard to reach locations.
How to Set Up WiFi in Unraid
Setting up WiFi is easy. Head over to Settings → Network Settings → Wireless (wlan0) in the webGUI and follow these steps:
- Enable WiFi.
- Find your preferred network and click the connect icon.
- Enter your WiFi password, adjust settings as needed, and press Join this network.
✅ Supports WPA2/WPA3 and WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise.
⚠️ Note: Wireless connectivity should not be used alongside a wired connection for long-term setups as Docker in particular doesn't like switching between network interfaces. If both connections use DHCP, Unraid will automatically adjust within 45-60 seconds when the network cable is unplugged (excluding Docker).
💡 Tip: If you have trouble connecting, let us know in the forums! Most modern WiFi adapters should work, but we’ve seen some issues with the Broadcom BCM4313 chipset.

Storage Upgrades 🗄️
Changes in Beta 2
- Fix: Resolved certain instances of Wrong pool State. Too many wrong or missing devices when upgrading. [-beta.2]
- mover:
- Fix: Resolved issue with older share.cfg files that prevented mover from running. [-beta.2]
- Fix: mover would fail to recreate hard link if parent directory did not already exist. [-beta.2]
Import Foreign ZFS Pools
Unraid now supports importing foreign ZFS pools, making migrations from other platforms easier than ever. This includes pools from:
- TrueNAS
- Proxmox
- Ubuntu
- QNAP
- And more!
When importing, Unraid will automatically select the largest partition on each disk rather than the first—streamlining the process.
VM Enhancements 💻
VirGL Changes in Beta 2
You can now share Intel and AMD GPUs between multiple Linux VMs at the same time using VirGL, the virtual 3D OpenGL renderer. When used this way, the GPU will provide accelerated graphics but will not output on the monitor. Note that this does not yet work with Windows VMs or the standard Nvidia plugin (it does work with Nvidia GPUs using the Nouveau driver though [-beta.2]).
To use the virtual GPU in a Linux VM, edit the VM template and set the Graphics Card to Virtual. Then set the VM Console Video Driver to Virtio(3d) and select the appropriate Render GPU from the list of available GPUs (note that GPUs bound to VFIO-PCI or passed through to other VMs cannot be chosen here, and Nvidia GPUs are available only if the Nouveau driver is enabled [-beta.2]).
How to enable VirGL:
- Edit the VM template.
- Set the Graphics Card to Virtual.
- Set the VM Console Video Driver to Virtio(3D).
- Select the Render GPU.
QXL Virtual GPU Support
- Now available for Linux VMs.
- Supports multiple screens and adjustable memory allocation.
User VM Templates: Save & Reuse Custom Configurations
- Save a VM configuration as a User Template for easy reuse.
- Export and import templates between Unraid servers.
🔧 Other VM Improvements:
- CPU pinning is now optional—Unraid dynamically selects cores when none are pinned.
- Primary GPU passthrough warning—Alerts users that a compatible vBIOS is required.

Other Improvements & Fixes 🛠️
Changes in Beta 2
Live Updates Paused
You may notice a banner saying Live Updates Paused when a browser tab loses focus, we now disable realtime updates on background tabs to help prevent "nchan out of shared memory" errors on the server. [-beta.2]
To change this behavior, navigate to Settings → Display Settings and modify Allow real-time updates on inactive browsers.
- Fix: Improved anonymization of IPv6 addresses in diagnostics [-beta.2]
- Fix: On the Docker tab, the dropdown menu for the last container was truncated in certain situations [-beta.2]
- Fix: Under certain circumstances, browser memory utilization on the dashboard could exponentially grow [-beta.2]
Fix: On Settings → Docker, deleting a Docker directory stored on a ZFS volume now works properly [-beta.2]
