You have two options: 

1. If you've already started a trial, you can purchase licenses and upgrades from the top right drop-down within Unraid.
2. You can purchase an Unraid license "activation code" from the Buy Now buttons above and activate your license later.

Starter and Unleashed licenses include one free year of software updates with purchase. After one year, customers can pay an optional extension fee (just $36 for the year), making them eligible for another year of updates.

If you choose not to extend your license, no problem. You still own the license and have full access to the OS—you simply will not be eligible for future updates unless or until you pay the extension fee. There will be no penalty for extending your license at a later date, other than it being subject to the current published extension price.

Trial licenses last 30 days and provide the full functionality of an Unraid Pro license with no attached storage device limit.

To begin, you must have a quality USB drive ready and download our USB creator tool. Then, follow our Getting Started Guide to be up and running in minutes. Trial licenses require an internet connection upon server boot to validate.

Attached storage devices refer to the total number of storage devices you are allowed to have connected to the server before starting the array, not counting the USB Flash boot device.

There are no other limitations in the software based on the license type. Non-storage devices such as GPUs do not count against the license tier limits.

Other boot devices, such as SD card readers, HDDs, or SSDs, are not currently supported.

You can manually transfer your license to a new USB Flash device at any time up to once per year.

No. After an Unraid license is purchased, no internet connection is required unless you are updating the OS or downloading apps, containers or plugins.

Nope. All of our license costs reflect the use of one license per server. If you would like to use Unraid on multiple servers, please purchase an additional license.

You can upgrade through the OS from Starter to Unleashed for $69 USD. 

The Starter license costs $24/year to extend and the Unleashed license costs $49/year to extend.

When you purchase an Unraid Starter or Unleashed license, your first year of OS updates are on us. 

If you choose not to extend your license in order to receive OS updates, you’ll still own a copy of the software in its current version—forever. You simply won't be eligible to install future OS updates, including security updates, bug fixes, and new features, until you extend.

Yes! Basic to Unleashed is $49 (6 devices to unlimited). Plus to Unleashed is $19 (12 devices to unlimited). If you upgrade from a legacy license to a new license, the legacy license will be swapped for your new license and the annual extension timeline is set when the upgrade takes place.
