New Community Applications Release & Hidden Gems of CA

Community Applications Version 2021.10.24 is now available for download!

If you were a beta tester, thank you very much for all of the feedback in helping this major release come to fruition.

To download this new release, head over to the Plugins tab and click Check for Updates. If you were running the beta version, you will need to Remove the CA beta and reinstall.

What's New?

Version 2021.10.24 has a number of new updates including a complete overhaul of the GUI to simplify the UI and give a better user experience.

A big thanks and congratulations go to Magnus Engo and Squid, aka Andrew Zawadzki, and the rest of the team for the major UI/UX updates to CA.

Along with the overhaul of the GUI, a number of additions, fixes, and updates are included in this release including:

• Added: When installing a second instance, the app name is automatically changed
• Various bug fixes regarding installing 2nd instances
• Added: Support for ReadMe files on templates
• Added: Languages show up within Installed Apps (plugins subsection)
• Removed: Help text (unnecessary with replacement GUI)
• Changed: Priority of support options is now Project, Discord, Support Forum

Note: This release is compatible with Unraid OS 6.9.0 and newer.

Hidden Gems of Community Applications

Alongside the recent CA Beta, we wanted to crowd-source some of the best-hidden gems of CA from the community. These are all useful apps, containers, and plugins that might not be known to the Unraid masses and unsurprisingly, we got a great response in the forums and on Reddit:

Disk Location

The Disk Location plugin locates your drives and assign them to a graphical tray map to get a full overview of installed hard drives in your system. Especially handy if you have multiple servers!

iSCSI Target and GUI

These iSCSI plugins allow you to connect to storage on your NAS like it was a local hard drive. This functionality is frequently requested as an Unraid feature request!

Paperless

Paperless indexes your scanned documents and allows you to easily search (OCR) and store metadata alongside your documents.

Dozzle

Dozzle allows you to see all your docker container logs.

Mealie

Mealie is a self-hosted recipe manager and meal planner with a RestAPI backend and a reactive frontend application built in Vue for a pleasant user experience

Dupeguru

Dupeguru is a tool to find duplicate files on your server. It can scan either filenames or contents. The filename scan features a fuzzy matching algorithm that can find duplicate filenames even when they are not exactly the same saving you potentially a lot of hard drive space.

Kiwix enables you to have the whole of Wikipedia at hand wherever you go!
